Overcoming the Overwhelm of Motherhood

It’s been awhile blog world, but Liam is sleeping, so I thought I sneak over to you with some empowering words!

The last two weeks have been quite chaotic to say the least…the positive thing is that it’s “mostly” good stuff!

Well, what happens when it’s not so good? What happens when your mind is spinning in circles, your kids are spinning around YOU in circles, your boss is TALKING in circles, and oh DH, he’s doing it too?! Are you screaming yet? I AM! (chuckle)

Here are a few pointers that I encourage you to put in your purse (or diaper bag) for those overwhelming days! At some point in your life, they will all apply.

(1) BREATHE! Your situation looks much worse than it really is. Even in the middle of your WORST day, take a mental escape. Even if it has to be on the white throne…yes, that one made of ceramic or porcelain. You know what I’m talking about. DO IT!

(2) ”Tink happy toughts, Peter Pan!” – This pointer is coupled with the white throne mental escape. Always keep in mind the ONE thing that can make you fly. What are thoughts that always put a smile on your face, and cause you to feel and respond to others in a more relaxed way? If it’s a picture: put it on your desk. If it’s a small gift, a first drawing from your toddler: wear it, hold it, keep it close, so you can refer to it. The quote above came from Hook (Robin Williams); ironically, Peter Pan’s happy thought that finally made him fly again…were his KIDS!  ; )

(3) Just remember, nap time is not far away! This one is self-explanatory, mommy.
